Aims and Scope
Control components, development of block diagrams for control systems,
analysis, and computer simulations. Four design methods: pole placement,
model matching, root-locus, and Bode-plot methods. Models will be chosen to
minimize quadratic performance index, ITAE, or by computer simulation.
Text book

C. T. Chen, Analog & Digital Control System Design: Transfer-function,
State-space, and Algebraic Methods , Oxford Univ. Press, 1993.
Computer
MATLAB is available in CAD Lab (Room 281, Light Engineering). How to use
MATLAB will be discussed in the class. You are
expected to do some problems in MATLAB.
Tests and Grade
- 1st test Feb. 12 (Thursday) Full mark: 80
- 2nd test March 10 (Tuesday) Full mark: 80
- 3rd test April 9 (Thursday) Full mark: 80
- Final May 12 (Tuesday) Full mark: 100
Grade Drop the worst. Grade based on curving and distribution.
No makeup exam. If you skip final, you forfeit 20 points and your grade
may be affected.
