Harbans Singh Dhadwal's Research Interests

        Wavefront Enginering: Wavefront control of optical beams emanating from singlemode fibers through fusion splicing of multiple sections of gradient index multi-mode fibers.

        Incoherent Fiber Optic Sensors: Development of incoherent fiber optic systems for measurement of axial, tangential and radial (tip clearance) deflections in rotating turbomachinery.

        Coherent Fiber Optic Sensors: In vivo detection of cataractous formation in a human lens;  submicroscopic particle size in fluid systems; laser Doppler velocimetry;

        Inverse Problems in Photon Correlation Spectroscopy: Development of algorithms for the inversion of  dynamic light scattering data

        Evanescent Wave Based Biosensors: Development of fiber optic biosensors for study of microbial processes in a marine environment.

        Fiber Optic Temperature Sensors: Distributed fiber optic temperature measurement along the length of a singlemode fiber based upon backscattered Raman power.

        DNA Sequencing: Fiber optic systems for multicapillary DNA sequencing using a single low power laser illumination.
